This was the first of our morning sessions starting at 0930, unfortunately someone forgot that but never mind. You will see that we had boat #58 sharing a skipper with Ron Viney sailing races 4,5,6.and giving the Hon Sec a few tuning tips. There was a good breeze at times and Bruce Robins with his A rig did extremely well keeping up with the A+ boats. Finishes across the 9 races were really close at times which kept our new PRO. Fred Schoch on his toes. Thanks Fred and we all loved your briefing leaving no one in any doubt about who was in charge….
Wind direction and speeds varied considerably with many places won and lost approaching the windward mark. Barry Glazier showed the way with an impressive 5 wins to take out the Gold Medal, the slow starting but extremely fast finishing Janet Jerwood was 2nd overall with the remaining 4 wins in the last 5 races. Garry Goodall had flashes of brilliance but just couldn’t manage a win but had 3 second places, edging out the demon duo for bronze on count back. Bruce with his A rig more than matched boats upwind but suffered on the downwind legs and had to leave early missing the last 2 races. Finally Ross Swanson is sailing really well and had a great 2nd place in race 2 and was never that far behind the pack.
Tricky conditions in the WNW to Nth winds, but everyone enjoyed the morning with plenty of sunshine and good company.
No Sailing this Sunday 6th October with 12 Wanderers heading down to Albany for the States out of the 28 nominations for the DF 95s…..well done Wanderers RSC.
