Many thanks to V/C Graham O’Hehir for acting as PRO this morning and for the race report below.
Yet another superb morning at Central Park Avenue today with seventeen starters reflecting the boom in DF 65 ownership
Jason Poutsma launched his new boat and without pre tuning managed a creditable thirteenth. Fred Webber returned to the fray after a long break……past commodore Dave Bedford made a special guest appearance and Mike Wall sailed his last Sunday race with us before moving to the Albany radio Sailing group. Mike won a race this morning, edging out the two Nicks in a tight finish. Wayne Coleman also won two races, with Nick Jerwood reigning supreme in the other six races.
Graham OHehir retired the club boat with rudder issues (yet his results suffered little as a consequence)…. and Janet Jerwood had battery issues which affected a few races.
Bev Swanson ran the morning as Starting and Finishing Master (Person) and Ann Morris seamlessly took care of scoring and stats.
Despite the fluky WSW winds (5 to 11 knots) there were few protests and even fewer starting line breaks.
Overall Nick Jerwood took first place by a margin from Barry Glazier. This breaks a progression of firsts for Barry stretching back to late December. Nick actually found beating Barry no easier than his winning of the National Flying Fifteen Championships in Victoria last week, where he clean swept all seven national heats and the invitational warm up! This must be a very rare event to win seven in a row against a hot interstate field in any popular international racing class.
Next race morning is Tuesday 14 January for the DF 95s 0930 start at CPA .
Graham O is again gazetted as P.R.O.
Cheers!
GOH.
